Vision

We are one of the most popular museums in the Gorenjska region, a centre for cultural tourism in Tržič and therefore an important contributor to the town’s sustainable development. We look after the roots from which the town of Tržič has grown. We are a popular, friendly and open space that offers a pleasant and educational experience for all who visit our collections and exhibitions.

Mission

Our mission is to look after the cultural heritage of Tržič and its surrounding area. We collect, preserve, study, protect, interpret and popularise it. The most valuable are the trade collections, the local history collection, the Slovenian Skiing Museum, the Ljubelj concentration camp and the permanent art collection.

All this enriches the town’s cultural life, consolidates the population’s identity and strengthens the sense of belonging. We show people the past so they can learn for the future, and we work together with the people of Tržič and with institutions in Slovenia and abroad.

Tržič Museum is also a pleasant meeting place, where we endeavour to make all groups of visitors aware of the importance of cultural heritage through varied and innovative programmes.

We are a close-knit, welcoming and responsive team, characterised by good planning and effective communication.
