The project demonstrates traditional shoemaking in Tržič – two techniques that are still alive today, but which are disappearing due to changes in shoemaking technology and related changes in footwear fashion.
In Tržič, there is one workshop where Roman Zaplotnik and his father still make shoes using methods that date back to the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The project demonstrates how women’s lace-up boots are made on a symmetrical last, and the making of meksikajnar boots.
